Doteasy Tutorial - FTP


Uploading with Fetch (for Mac users)

FTP a software that is commonly used to transfer files from one computer to another. In this case you will be transferring files from your computer to the Doteasy web server. This tutorial explains to you how to use Fetch software on Mac to upload files to your server. To follow this tutorial you will need to have your Doteasy Member ID and password, a copy of Fetch installed on your computer and an internet connection.





If you are using Basic Hosting, view this tutorial.







If you are using Ultra Hosting, CGI/Perl, or PHP/MySQL optional features, view this tutorial.











I. Basic Hosting FTP Tutorial.

Recommended Software: Fetch (OS X)

 

Start the Fetch software and you will see the screen below.



Fill in the blanks as follows:

Host: Enter your domain name ftp.yourdomain.com
(substitute yourdomain.com with your domain)
User ID: Enter your Doteasy Member ID
(Member ID only NOT administrative email address)
Password: Enter your Doteasy password
(passwords and IDs are case sensitive)
Initial folder: Enter /



Now click "Connect". Fetch will connect to your server and display the root web directory which is where you should upload your files.



To transfer files: Use the Put icon or drag the files that you wish to upload from your desktop or location on your computer, and drag and drop it to the Fetch interface window.

You should overwrite the files on the remote system if you are making changes to your website. It should take several seconds to transfer your files depending on your internet connection speed. After you have finished uploading all of the necessary files, you may exit the program and view your changes through a web browser.

* If changes are not visible after you have uploaded new content to your website, please try clearing your browser cache or temporary internet files and reload the page again.

II. Ultra Hosting, CGI/Perl or PHP/MySQL Optional Feature FTP Tutorial.
