Doteasy Tutorials - Email Setup

Setting up POP Email for AOL Users

Outlook Express 6.

This tutorial uses Outlook Express as the example software to guide AOL Broadband users through the setup of POP email software to send and receive email for your Doteasy.com hosted domain name.

The configuration for other POP email software should be very similar. AOL Broadband users need to pay special attention to the configuration due to special configuration requirements by the AOL Broadband network.

Start your Outlook Express software. Click Tools and select Accounts.

On the Internet Accounts page, select the Mail tab, click Add and then select Mail.

On the Your Name page, enter the email sender's name as the Display name and click Next.

On the Internet E-mail Address page, enter your AOL email address as the E-mail address and click Next. Note that the email address MUST BE your AOL email address. This is an AOL requirement.

On the E-mail Server Names page, select POP3 as your incoming server type and enter the incoming and outgoing mail servers and then click Next to continue.

My incoming mail server is a: POP3 server
Incoming mail server (POP3): mail.yourdomain.com
(Replace yourdomain.com with your own domain name)
Outgoing mail server (SMTP): smtp.aol.com

On the Internet Mail Logon screen, enter userID@yourdomain.com as your Account name and your email account password and then click Next. You may check Remember password but DO NOT check Log on using Secure Password Authentication (SPA).

Click Finish to end the Internet Connection Wizard.

Select your newly created account and click Properties to edit other account properties.

In the General tab, enter your Doteasy email address into the Reply Address field.

When sending email, your AOL email address will display as the sender, however the reply to email address will be your Doteasy hosted address.

In the Servers tab, ensure My server requires authentication is checked.and then click Settings.

Select Log on using and enter your AOL Login ID and Password. Click OK

In the Advanced tab, change Outgoing mail (SMTP) port to 587. Click OK.

Congratulations! You have successfully setup your POP email software. Click Close to end.
