Many of us have deleted email accounts altogether because the clutter of spam was just getting out of control. And spam is not the only concern, there is also the email viruses and other email-borne threats that inundate our inboxes.
Doteasy Spam & Email Virus Protection is an optional email service that provides an integrated hardware and software solution for personal, business and enterprise email accounts. The Doteasy Spam & Email Virus Protection cuts spam and virus-infected emails, reducing risks to your computer and time needed to delete unwanted emails.
The Doteasy Spam & Email Virus Protection provides ten defense layers. The ten defense layers are:
  • DOS (denial of service) and security protection
  • User-specified rules
  • IP block list
  • Spam fingerprint check
  • Rate control
  • Intention analysis
  • Virus check with archive decompression
  • Bayesian analysis
  • Proprietary virus check
  • Rule-based spam scoring

  • Spammers attempt to cripple email servers by sending a large quantity of email in a short period of time. This is called a DOS (denial of service) attack. With rate controls, we set up parameters that protect your mail server from these types of floods. This keeps your mail server at optimal performance.
  • All email attachments are scanned and any spyware executables or viruses are detected and eliminated immediately. File type blocking provides further virus protection.
  • Individual spam scoring feature allows you to set your own rules and the filter scans all your emails for you. If an email reaches a certain score or threshold, it is then classified as spam and will not be delivered into your inbox.
  • You have control over your own white and black lists. You tell the filter who you want to grant unconditional mail delivery and who you do not wish to receive emails from.
  • Emails are broken down into component parts, including text and images, and analyzed based on the history of the sender, and the characteristics and objective of the email.
  • Separate email quarantine boxes and reports allow you to review ‘suspicious’ emails received and decide if you should want to ignore, approve or delete it. Your other email users will have their own as well.
The Spam & Email Virus Protection system examines all the characteristics of an incoming email and uses a complex system of scores to determine whether a message is spam. When an email reaches the spam scoring filter, the Spam & Email Virus Protection system assigns scores to all the properties of the message. For example, it would examine:
  • A message's header and subject line for offending characters or words
  • The percentage of HTML in the message
  • Whether a message contains an 'unsubscribe' link
  • These properties (along with many others) help the Spam & Email Virus Protection system determine a message's spam score, which represents a message's probability of being spam, and how to handle the message based on pre-defined thresholds. A spam score of 0 means that a message is not spam, a spam score of 10 means that an email is very certain to be spam.
